Fukutoshin Line

The Fukutoshin Line is a Tokyo Metro subway line in Tokyo, Japan. The line is designated as the "F" line in Metro guides and its symbol is a brown circle with an "F" in the middle. The Fukutoshin Line was known as Line 13 in the years before it was officially launched on June 14th, 2008. Fukutoshin connects several major neighborhoods in central Tokyo including Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, and Shibuya. The name of the line means "secondary city center". In the future, the line will offer through service on the Tokyu Toyoko Line at Shibuya Station.

History

The Fukutoshin Line has been planned for decades and has been under construction for many years. The line was officially launched on Saturday, June 14, 2008. The mayor of Tokyo, Shintaro Ishihara, was present for a launch party for the new line on June 13th, 2008.
