Hiroyuki Sanada was born on October 12, 1960 in Tokyo, Japan as Hiroyuki Shimosawa. He was married to Satomi Tezuka in 1990, whom he has two children with. Hiroyuki Sanada and Satomi Tezuka divorced in July 1997. Nicknamed "Duke", he made his first debut in films when he was only five years old, in Rokyoku komori-uta. In 1978, Hiroyuki Sanada's career as an actor took off and is now known as one of the most talented actors in Japan and also a protege and disciple of Sonny Chiba. In 1994, Hiroyuki Sanada won the award for Best Actor at the Third Television Academy Awards.
