History

The Omotesando Station was built in 1938 and known for one year as the Aoyama-rokuchome Station until being renamed Jingumae Station in 1939, which lasted until 1978. Later, when the Hanzomon Line was opened in 1978, the station was redubbed Omotesando to match the growing neighborhood in which it was located.

Lines and Service

Omotesando Station serves only Tokyo Metro and currently provides service to three separate lines including:

The Station

The station consists of 3 separate points of entry and departure, with two main platforms, and numbered locations for each entry. The destinations are as follows:

  • Chiyoda Line – Yoyogi-Uehara, Karakida
  • Chiyoda Line – Kita-Senju, Otemachi, Matsudo, Ayase, Kashiwa, Toride, Abiko
  • Hanzomon Line – Shibuya, Chuo-Rinkan
  • Ginza Line – Shibuya
  • Ginza Line – Ginza, Ueno, Asakusa, Akasaka-mitsuke
  • Hanzomon Line – Oshiage, Otemachi, Kuki, Minami-Kurihashi

Within the station, travelers transferring between the Ginza Line and Hanzomon Line can easily make the switch as the two share a platform in either direction. However, there are occasionally Tobu Railway trains that run on the same tracks and have the same orange coding as Ginza Line trains causing a great deal of confusion for many travelers.

Nearby Stations

Travelers on all three Tokyo Metro lines in Omotesando Station can reach the following adjacent stations:

  • Ginza Line – Shibuya, Gaienmae
  • Chiyoda Line – Meiji-Jingumae, Nogizaka
  • Hanzomon Line – Shibuya, Aoyama-itchome
