Shunji Fujimura was born on December 8th, 1934 in Kamakura, Kanagawa, Japan. He graduated from the Toho Performing Arts School in 1957. Since the early 1970s, he has acted in more than a dozen television shows and films. In addition to acting in films and television, Shunji Fujimura has also appeared in many advertisements and has acted as a disc jockey on the radio. Fujimura also owns a bar in Japan.

In 2006, he starred in Desu nôto, or Death Note, which is a film based on a Japanese manga which is about a high school student who decides to rid the world of evil with the help of a supernatural notebook. Manga is the Japanese word for print cartoons or comics. The manga industry in Japan is booming and Shunki Fujimura’s involvement with this medium can only serve to expand his appeal to a wider audience.
