'''Ueno Station''' (上野駅) is a railway station located in [[Taito-ku]], [[Tokyo]]. Commonly used to reach Ueno and Ueno Park, home to the [[Tokyo National Museum]], [[Ueno Zoo]], The [[National Museum of Western Art]], and the [[Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music]], the station is highly used. It is also the terminus for many trains incoming from Northern Japan.

==History==

Ueno Station was opened on July 28, 1883. The buildings originally built in the 19th century were destroyed during the [[Great Kanto Earthquake]] of 1923 and were subsequently rebuilt by Japanese Government Railways. In 1927, the precursor to [[Tokyo Metro]] created the first subway line in Japan between Ueno Station and [[Asakusa Station]].
