The 5.6.7.8's are an all female, three-piece, rock and roll band from Tokyo. The name is derived from the fact that they play music reminiscent of the 1950s, 60s, 70s, and 80s rock and they frequently cover American rock and roll songs.

The band has had a cult following from the start. Although they only release albums on indie labels, and sell in modest quantities, they have fans all over the world and have toured worldwide since 1992. Their tracks can be found on many compilations. Most of their Japanese releases are on the Osaka based indie Time Bomb.

The band formed when Sachiko and Yoshiko (Ronnie) Fujiyama, two sisters from Tokyo, founded it in 1986 with two other members. The original lineup consisted of Yoshiko on vocals and guitar, Rico on second guitar, Yoshie on bass guitar and Sachiko on drums. After several line-up changes, the band became a threesome after Rico and Yoshie's departures. Yoshiko and Sachiko have now been rejoined by Akiko Omo as the bass guitarist. Omo was in the 5.6.7.8's in the early 1990s.

The 5.6.7.8's recently became known in the West after their appearance in Kill Bill Vol. 1, in 2002, in which they performed I Walk Like Jayne Mansfield, I'm Blue and Woo Hoo in a Tokyo club. The Kill Bill Volume 1 DVD features a live performance which shows the 5.6.7.8's singing during filming of the movie. The 5.6.7.8's song The Barracuda is featured in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift Soundtrack.

They have also become known for the use of their cover of the Rock-A-Teens song Woo Hoo in advertisements for Carling lager and Vonage VoIP service in 2004.
