Every Little Thing is a pop duo also known as ELT by their Japanese fans. The group was created by keyboard player Mitsuru Igarashi in 1996. Igarashi was a producer at the label Avex Trax at that time and was seeking a girl to form a duo with him. He heard a demo tape by Kaori Mochida, who was then trying to get a music contract after going solo from the group called The Kuro Buta All-Stars.
Igarashi and Mochida were joined by guitarist Ichiro Ito. The band’s first single Feel My Heart was released to resounding success. Their first studio album, everlasting sold nearly two million copies in Japan and the band reached number one in the singles chart with their fourth single, For The Moment.
Time to Destination was one of the best-selling albums of 1998 and included their best-selling single, Time goes by.
After the release of the Eternity in 2000, Igarashi decided to leave the band to produce other artists, including dream and day after tomorrow. From then on Every Little Thing became known as a duo. From then on, the band moved from synthesized pop rock to a more acoustic soft rock sound. The single fragile in 2001, became a massive hit selling approximately 829,580 copies that year.
Although Every Little Thing’s sales have declined in recent years, they continue to play and release records. In 2004, they released two singles, and one album and one single in 2005. A concert tour was arranged for their ten year anniversary in 2006.
