Snow Country Lodge Takahan (also called Snow Country Inn Takahan) is a ryokan located in the city of Yuzawa in Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

Snow Country Lodge Takahan was establised over 800 years ago. This lodge is where in 1934 Nobel-prize-winning author Yasunari Kawabata wrote his first novel Snow Country - a tragic romance set in the area. His room is preserved for visitors to see.

The lodge is located above downtown Yuzawa.

Description

Their hot spring bath is called "Tamago no Yu" - "Egg Water" - because water it uses contains some sulfur. The inn advertises the fact that it draws its water directly from an underground spring and does not sterilize or recirculate it

Lodge's bath is open to daily both guests and visitors from 13:00-18:00 (1-6 p.m.).
