Tatsuya Fujiwara was born May 15, 1982 in Saitama, Japan. He began his acting career doing theater and eventually transitioned into film. He is best known for his roles in the film Battle Royale and its sequel Battle Royale II. He is also well-known for his leading role in Death Note and Death Note: The Last Name, which are both based on a manga. He has also appeared in several different television roles as well. In addition to acting, he also enjoys playing soccer and snowboarding. He is also a big fan of the baseball team the Seibu Lions.
In 2004, he was nominated for the Best Actor Award of the Japanese Academy for his role in the 2003 film Batoru rowaiaru II: Chinkonka. In 2001, he won the Newcomer of the Year award from the Japanese Academy for his role in the 2000 film Batoru rowaiaru. He was also nominated for Best Actor for the same role. He also won the Blue Ribbon Award for Best New Actor in 2001 for that role.
