Shimokitazawa Shelter is a live house located in Setagaya, Tokyo. It is part of the Loft Project, which includes the Shinjuku Loft, the Naked Loft, and the Shinjuku Loft Plus One. The Shelter is smaller than the Loft by about 300 people, and tends to play less of a variety of popular music. The Shelter is designed mostly for rock music. They have amps and other equipment on hand for that musical style. They also serve alcohol, and though their choices are somewhat limited, they do have beer with student specials, some cocktails, whiskies and other beverages. All tickets for the Shelter are sold only 1 day in advance of any show.

Access

Catch the Orakyu Line and get off at Keio Shimoikitazawa Station. Go south where it is approximately a 3 minute walk. If you continue through the Showa shopping district, you should pass the Shinking tea headquarters and Sawa Street. The loft is across from the Bank of Tokyo and the Mitsubishi UFJ.

Facility

The Shimokitazawa Shelter fits about 200 to 250 people standing. It appears from the outside to be a generic live house, which is no surprise since it is located in a basement like many other Tokyo Live Houses. For those that require lockers, there are approximately 100 lockers available that are first come, first serve, though with the lower capacity they are rarely ever completely filled.
