Shibuya DUO Music Exchange

The Shibuya DUO Music Exchange is a live house music venue located in Shibuya, Tokyo. Since it opened in January, 2004, it was designed to be a musical venue for overseas artists, which is why it is known as “exchange.” The purpose is to allow Japanese residents to relax and enjoy foreign music that may not have been available previously.

There is also a great deal of food and beverages. Although some popular local bands play at the Shibuya DUO music exchange, it is still primarily known for hosting international artists and conventions. Jamiroquai, the United Kingdom rock band, actually helped design the Shibuya DUO Music exchange building (Their logo can be found in many of the lounge rooms). The location of the Shibuya Duo Music exchange is the same location the Jamiroquai played their first concert in Japan, so they asked Jamiroquai for their input during its remodel. Currently Jay Kay (A member of Jamiroquai) serves as part owner of the establishment.

Shibuya DUO Music exchange is most popular for playing funk music.

Access

By train, you can get to the Shibuya DUO Music Exchange by taking either the JR Keio Inokashira line or the Tokyu-Toyoko Line subway, or the Hanzomon Line. Get off at Hachiko Station. It is approximately a 10 minute walk.

You can also go down the Shibuya-109. It is on the left hand side of the street. There is a 7/11 to the right, and you can park in front of 1 F.

Facility

There is a seating capacity of 350 total seats and 1,000 people standing, for a total of 1,350 people. The stage floor is raised from the neighboring floor.
