Cosplay

Cosplay (コスプレ) is a Japanese word combining the English words "costume" and "play". Cosplay is a Japanese (and now international) subculture where people dress up as characters from manga, anime, video games, and also visual kei bands. Cosplay is also a popular theme in Japanese adult industry produced videos.

There are cosplay conventions, contests, and clubs all over Japan. On of the most popular public cosplay locations in Japan is the Harajuku Bridge in Tokyo.
