Nakano-ku

Nakano-ku (中野区) is one of the 23 special wards of Tokyo, Japan.

It is the hometown of many famous Japanese, including musician Ryuichi Sakamoto and comedian Yuji Tanaka. It makes up around 3% of Tokyo's 23 wards. The ku has five rivers running through it. It is a youth city, with a relatively high population of people in their twenties. Nakano-ku has always been mainly a residential area, with few big businesses or shopping areas. In recent years, because of its proximity to Shinjuku-ku, Nakano-ku has seen more businesses moving into the area.

• Nakano Broadway - shopping area which houses floors of shops selling anime, manga, idol merchandise, urban vinyl toys, and other stores of otaku interest, including maid cafes and maid gaming centers. It also contains a great number of wristwatch shops.
