Tokyo Dome

Tokyo Dome is a large stadium and popular concert hall located in the Bunkyo Ward of Tokyo. They are the home stadium for the Yomiuri Giants baseball team, and are also a popular location for American football, basketball, wrestling, kickboxing, and other well known international sports.
The Japanese Baseball hall of fame is located in the Tokyo Dome, which opened in 1988, and its dome shape is one of the reasons it is a popular location for musical performances. It was Japan’s first dome stadium. The Dome is the key fixture in Tokyo Dome City.

History
Despite already being popular hub for music, sports, and other types of entertainment, Tokyo Dome is actually a part of what is known as “Tokyo Dome City” which also has a popular amusement park, shops and restaurants.
The Japanese baseball hall of fame was created in 1959, but when the dome was created the hall of fame became a part of the larger complex.

Access
Several Stations end close to the Tokyo Dome. The JR Chuo-Sobu Line, the Mita Line, the Marunouchi Line, the Nanboku Line and the Oedo line. The first two trains drop you off at Suidobashi St., the next two and Korakuen St., and the final one at Kasuga St.
It takes about 40 minutes to get there from the Haneda Airport.
Concerts
Tokyo Dome is the largest concert venue in all of Japan. It is the primary location for many famous international singers including Madonna, Michael Jackson, t.A.T.u. and the Backstreet Boys, and it continues to be a popular choice for some of the biggest names in Japanese and international music.
Baseball
The Tokyo Dome is the home stadium for the Yomiuri Giants (sometimes called the Tokyo Giants by the international media). They are the oldest professional baseball team (created in 1936) in the history of Japan, winning 9 different titles before the league split into two in 1950.
Other Sports
While the Yomiuri Giants are the only Japanese sports franchise that calls the Tokyo Dome “home,” many international sporting events take place in the large arena. Teams from several American sports have played in the Tokyo Dome when visiting the large country, including American football and, the NBA, and Boxing. The world heavyweight match between Mike Tyson and Tony Tubbs was held in the Tokyo Dome in 2007.
Facilities
The Tokyo Dome fits 55,000 people. The dome shape of the stadium makes it easy for live music to create a powerful sound that reverberates throughout the arena, and the large seating makes it a common choice for international music stars and popular Japanese singers.
Near the Tokyo Dome are an amusement park, hotel, and a variety of popular shops and restaurants. There is a bowling alley and horse racing arena nearby, and all of these venues are located in “Tokyo Dome City” named after the popular tourist attraction.
